The Manitoba Chamber of Commerce
Case Study
Established in 1931, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce is the umbrella organization for Manitoba’s chamber movement. Representing over 10,000 businesses, community leaders and local chambers the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce is the province’s largest and most diverse business lobby.
Problem
The Chambers’ activities present unique challenges to the small team that manages its day-to-day operations. In addition to servicing its vast membership, the Manitoba Chambers hosts numerous events annually while keeping pace with dynamic business trends and evolving economic and government policies. Given the resulting flow of paper and extensive administration requirements, the Manitoba Chambers’ management actively looked for efficiencies to ensure its time and labour resources were being put to the best use possible.
Solution
While there’s no replacing good old fashion customer service or traditional research methods, transitioning towards a paperless office was one improvement that the Manitoba Chambers’ general manager was focused on. The Manitoba Chambers found its solution among its own membership ranks, and Telpay was engaged to provide its solution allowing the organization to pay all of its bills electronically instead of using paper cheques.
Results
With the new and powerful Telpay electronic payment system, the Manitoba Chambers’ staff were able to streamline their account payables, reaping time savings that could be re-directed to value adding member services.
As a group that business leaders come to for support, it is important for the Manitoba Chambers to set the gold standard. By adopting the cutting-edge Telpay for Business electronic payment system, the Manitoba Chambers established the precedent for administrative and accounting best practices when it comes to paying their suppliers.
Testimonial
“For me the most important aspects of the Telpay system are its ease of use and customer support – the agents are gems to work with. Since I wasn’t particularly technically savvy at first, the Telpay system seemed a bit overwhelming. With assistance from Telpay’s helpful staff, once the software was installed, things worked out really well.”
